Aniline is a simple cyclic aromatic compounds and tough biodegradable as well as it is one the most widely used materials in various industries. This super-toxic substrate due to its high solubility can be found in abundance in surface and underground waters and has harmful effects on human health and the aquatic animals. The aim of the present study was to remove the aniline using dried activated sludge (DAS). In this experimental research, the effect of influencing variables such as pH (3, 5, 7, 9 and 11), contact time (15 to 120 min), adsorbent dose (0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.5 mg/L) and aniline initial concentration (10-250 mg) were examined. Adsorption isotherms were assessed using Freundlich, Langmuir and Temkin isotherms, and uptake kinetic was evaluated by pseudo-first and second order kinetics. The results of the present study indicated that the maximum efficiency of dried activated sludge in the removal of aniline was equal to 75.12 and optimum conditions involving pH of 11, 30 min contact time, adsorbent dose of 0.6 mg/L and initial concentration of 100 mg/L. In addition, check out the adsorption isotherm demonstrated that the data were better matched with Langmuir adsorption model (R2 0.968) and was followed pseudofirst order kinetic model.
