Abstract

Long non-coding RNAs affect cancer progression and gastric cancer(GC) tumorigenesis impressively. We investigated the expression of a novel long intergenic non-coding RNA—lincRNA-AC064834.1(ENST00000413290.1)—in GC patients. LincRNA-AC064834.1 was selected from the differentially expressed lncRNA transcripts by RNA-seq results. Quantitative RT-PCR examined the lincRNA-AC064834.1 expression in GC tissues and adjacent noncancerous tissues(ANCTs) (n = 80 samples). The association between the expression level of AC064834.1 and clinicopathology was tested. In addition, the suitability of the transcript level of this gene in differentiation of tumoral from non-tumoral tissues was assessed by plotting the ROC curve. The results showed that the AC064834.1 relative expression levels were considerably higher in tumor tissues than in ANCTs (Fold change/log2 standard error, 4.52 (0.22–73.77); p = 0.006). The overall sensitivity and specificity of AC064834.1 in GC diagnosis were 67.5. RNA expression level of AC064834.1 did not significantly correlate with clinicopathologic characteristics. The lincRNA-AC064834.1 might serve as a novel potential biomarker for GC. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.
