Persian Abstract

زمینه و هدف: سالمندی با تغییرات زیستی مهمی در بیشتر اعضای بدن به‌ویژه دهان و دندان همراه است که به‌نظر می‌رسد در صورت مراقبت ناکافی منجر به از دست رفتن سلامت دهان و دندان در سالمندان می‌گردد. با توجه به این مهم، پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسی وضعیت دهان و دندان سالمندان مناطق شهری و روستایی شهرستان تربت‌حیدریه در سال 1394 انجام شد. روش‌ها: این مطالعه به روش توصیفی تحلیلی انجام شد. حجم نمونه 450 نفر بود که به روش تصادفی ساده از بین سالمندان ساکن در شهرستان تربت‌حیدریه انتخاب شدند. داده‌ها با استفاده از پرسشنامه و فرم معاینه جمع‌آوری و با کمک نرم افزار آماری SPSS نسخه 21 با آزمون کای‌دو تحلیل شد. نتایج: میانگین سنی واحد‌های مورد مطالعه 8.57±70.3 سال بود.48.9 درصد سالمندان مرد و مابقی زن بودند. همچنین55.1 درصد واحد‌ها ساکن روستا و بقیه ساکن شهر بودند. 256 نفر (56.9 درصد) از واحد‌های مورد مطالعه بی‌دندانی کامل و 23.8 درصد آنها اشکال در جویدن داشتند. موارد اندکی (16.4 درصد) از واحد‌ها در یک سال گذشته به دندانپزشک مراجعه کرده بودند و بیشترین علت (58.7 درصد) مراجعه آنان به دندانپزشک درد دندان بود. مشاوره و معاینه کمترین میزان (1.6درصد) را به‌خود اختصاص می‌داد. بین محل سکونت با شاخص بی‌دندانی رابطه معنی‌داری مشاهده شد (0.01=P). نتیجه‌گیری: میزان بی‌دندانی در سالمندان بالا بود. می‌توان با آموزش و مراقبت فعال در دوران‌های مختلف زندگی، تا حد زیادی شاخص بی‌دندانی در سالمندان را کاهش داد.

The investigation of oral and dental status and its related factors in the elderly in Torbat Heydariyeh in 2015

Abstract

Background & Aim: Aging is accompanied with biological changes in the body organs especially mouth and tooth. Lack of adequate care can lead to loss of oral and dental health in the elderly.  Due to the importance of this issue, the present study aimed at determining the oral and dental status of the elderly in urban and rural areas of Torbat Heydariyeh in 2015  Methods: This is a descriptive/analytical study conducted on 450 elderly subjects living in Torbat Heydarieh through convenience sampling. The data were collected using questionnaire and examination form and analyzed by SPSS 21 using Chi-Square test. Results: the mean age of study subjects was 70.3±8.57. 48.9% of the elderlies were male and the rest were female. Also, 55.1% of study subjects were living in rural areas. 256 study subjects (56.9%) were fully edentulous and 23.8% had problems with chewing. A few cases (16.4%) had referred to a dentist in the past year. The most (58.7%) and least (1.6%) reason for referring to the dentist was toothache and consultation/checkup, respectively. There was a significant relationship between living place and edentulous index (p=0.01). Conclusion: Being edentulous was very prevalent among the elderly. Thus, education and active care in different periods of life lead to reduce edentulous index in the elderly.
